You want more than just having a website made: you want to turn your company into a brand. Monkey Vision is going to help you do just that!

Why is brand identity so important for your brand? Read about it in this week's blog!

Website or brand?

The swishing "swoosh", the golden yellow M, the three stripes, the apple with a bite out of it, the mirrored C´s, the green mermaid with crown. Do they look familiar to you? These are of course the widely known logosand brand identities of major companies such as Nike, McDonald's, Adidas, Apple, Chanel and Starbucks.

It is exactly these images that make the companies so recognisable. And this is no coincidence: behind a logo, and therefore a brand identity, there is a whole science.

Standing out to your audience?

Do you, like these big companies, want to stand out to your audience with a good consistent website that appeals, stays with them and is trusted by your customers? Then you need a good brand identity! How do you do that?

As we said, there is a whole science behind a brand identity. So choose a professional who thinks about this carefully and creates something that suits you, but more importantly appeals to your current audience and a new one.

At Monkey Vision , we have these professionals in-house. Following a thorough consultation, they can develop your website and create a brand guidelines manual featuring your logo, as well as matching colour codes, typefaces and icons.

Want to know more about the importance of brand identity and how we approach it at Monkey Vision ? You can read about it in this blog! Monkey Vision offers many options when it comes to websites: from brand identity to hosting.

What is a brand identity?

What exactly is a brand identity? A brand identity is how your company presents itself to the outside world. Through this brand identity, you convey your identity visually. This visual identity takes shape through a set of cohesive elements: a logo, colours, typefaces, icons and photography.

You extend this brand identity into all your communication tools: on your new website, business cards, the signature of your emails, invoices, quotes, stationery and much more.

A good brand identity therefore consists of more than just a logo: it is a combination of a number of visual elements that form a coherent whole. We can set out these brand identity elements for you in a brand guide.

In addition to the logo, important elements include:

  • Colours

The colours in your logo and brand identity (subconsciously) evoke certain associations in your audience. Green, for example, conveys a sense of nature, whilst people associate blue with tranquillity. Red is often perceived as a strong colour and is somewhat more aggressive, whereas yellow, on the other hand, feels warm. The colour of your logo and brand identity therefore requires careful consideration: this is about more than simply finding a colour ‘attractive’.

  • Fonts

Also known as “typography” or “fonts”. A typeface can evoke a certain feeling and associations: professional, creative, classic, luxurious, modern, etc. You want the associations your target audience forms to align with your company and the image you wish to project, but also with what your target audience is looking for. We’ll look at which fonts are suitable and select two or three to be used in different places (for example, your headings might use a different font to your body text).

  • Icons

Often the image and identity you want to portray in your brand identity is made even stronger with icons and shapes, if done well. They can be an extension of your logo. For instance, do you opt for additional illustrations on your website, or do you complement your style with matching shapes? These are also things you can think about together with a professional designer.

  • Photography

It is very nice if your photography also fits within your brand identity. Sometimes companies choose to use a photographer separately from the brand identity design. Nevertheless, it is advisable to include photography within a corporate identity package and have the designer work with a photographer. The designer can explain well to the photographer what the style entails, after which the photographer knows exactly what kind of photos and portraits will fit well. This way, it will be a beautiful whole!

Photography is also a very important part of establishing brand identity for your online shop. Would you like to have an online shop created? We can do this for you too!

House style and website: the house style manual

Being consistent is very important if your company has been given a new brand identity. After all, you need to implement your brand identity consistently, so that your identity is always recognisable and becomes a reflection of your company.

If you don't implement your brand identity consistently throughout, it can look sloppy and the representation of your identity is clouded.

To properly implement your brand identity in all your communications, it is useful to have a brand identity manual made. This is a booklet containing all house style rules. Especially if you have a large company, this is useful: it gives you a reference work in which everyone can check and implement this. This reduces the risk of your brand identity not coming across clearly to your target group and fewer mistakes are made.

How to create a brand identity?

You're not going to create that brand identity yourself. You leave that to the professional. The designers at Monkey Vision and our friends and friends at Heroes & Weirdos will sit down with you to get your company's identity right.

They will ask all kinds of questions about your company, products, ambitions and target group and take this information into the design process. Based on the information obtained, they will get to work and come up with a brand identity, with logo, fonts, colours and icons that reflect your corporate identity.

This brand identity is formatted in a brand identity manual: this way, you can see everything in one overview and your staff have a reference book in which the brand identity rules can be looked up.
